Blue-winged Leaf-bird (Jerdon's Chloropsis) - Chloropsis cochinchinensis, Karandana, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

This bird had come to feed on some boiled rice kept on a plate in an open cage. It flew away after the feed.,

A very shy bird. It was high up on a coconut tree. I used my Nikon 70-300 zoom VR on my Nikon D90. The shots were taken hand-held with VR on.

A very common bird found close to dwellings in the south of Sri Lanka.

'House Sparrow' - Passer domesticus indicus, Karandana, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

These birds were numerous a few decades ago in the vicinity of houses in Sri Lanka. They disappeared in large numbers a few years back. Now they are makiing a come-back.

'Yellow-billed Babbler' - Turdoides affinis taprobanus, Karandana, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

The plumage of a Red-vented Bulbul, Karandana, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.
