Cock-fighting was a village sport in South Asia for centuries. Prize fighting cocks were much sought after. See the well developed fighting spurs on this cock, whose ancestry might be anywhere in South Asia.

House Sparrow chick - Passer domesticus indicus, Home garden Avissawella.



With bright feathers, this chick was learning to loog for worms in the sand. It was frequently visited and fed by its parents.

Yellow-billed Babblers - Turdoides affinis taprobanus, taking a bath, home garden, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.


Called also as the 'Seven sisters' they are always seen in a group. They are the noisiest in the garden.
