Birds in a pond, Nallur, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

In close proximity to the Nallur Temple is the Rio Ice-cream Bar. There is a weed grown algae covered pond. It is an area with a lot of traffic close by. I spotted these birds in the pond feeding and nesting.

Red-vented Bulbul - Pycnonotus cafer partaking of a fruit, Home garden, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

House Sparrow - Passer domesticus indicus, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka.

I took these photos in the Nuwara Eliya Gardens in June 2014. House Sparrows from being a very common bird in Sri Lanka, almost disappeared from sight over the last decade. They are now making a 'come-back'.

Black-headed Ibises - Threskiornis melanocephalus, Alawwa, Sri Lanka.

These are found in flock in paddy fields during the time of ploughing when earthworms are exposed.

Long-billed Sunbird - Nectarinia lotenia, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

Greater Coucal - Centropus sinensis, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

Common Tailor-bird - Orthotomus sutorius, Home garden, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

'Sri Lanka White-eye', home garden, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

Green Bee-eater - Merops orientalis, Thantrimale, Sri Lanka.

Purple-rumped Sun-bird - Nectarinia zeylonica, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

A Eurasian Spoon-bill - Platalea leucorodia and a Little Egret - Egretta garzetta, near Thirukketheeswaram, Sri Lanka.

I am not sure whether it is a Eurasian Spoonbill as the beak is black in colour.

Indian Black Robin - Saxicoloides fulicata, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

Juvenile.
