This bird, unaffected by the noise of traffic around was serenely fishing on the lake.

Two types of bird's nests, Sun-bird's and 'Swifts'.

Nest of a Sun-bird built on a wire hanging from the ceiling.

A Swift's nest made of clay. The pair carry small balls of wet clay and throw it on the surface while 'on the fly', to build up the nest.

Indian Pond-heron - Ardeola grayii, near the Rio Ice-crem parlour, Nallur, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

Quite a few water birds were spotted by me in this collection of water. The proximity of active human noise and bustle seem not to have affected these birds.

Black-winged Stilt - Himantopus himantopus, Nallur, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

There is a small lake next to the Rio Ice-cream Parlour at Nallur. I spotted this bird feeding in the lake.

Pheasant-tailed Jacana - Hydrophasianus chirurgus, Nallur, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

Next to the Rio Ice-cream parlor at Nallur, there is a small weed-covered lake. I have seen this bird regularly over the last four years. An Australian Doctor said that this bird is also called the 'Jesus Bird'. It walks on the large spreading lotus leaves and appears to 'walk on water' as Jesus did.

Chandrika Wewa at dawn.

A Cormorant cooling itself  after a dive. It has no sweat glands and spreads its wings to catch the breeze.

Green Bee-eater _ Merops orientalis, Udawalawe National Park, Sri Lanka.

The breeze blowing has ruffled the feathers of an otherwise beautiful bird.
