With plenty of fish in the shallow waters around, these Brahminy Kites sit on the electric transmission lines with their feathers ruffled by the strong breeze. I got quite close to this bird before it flew away.

A very frequent visitor to our garden. A slice of papaw attracts them in pairs. They are pretty aggressive and chase away the smaller fry.

I took these pictures in our home-garden in Avissawella, Sri Lanka. I used a Nikon D90 with a 18-105 lens. I am still getting acquainted with this superb camera.

Oriental Magpie Robin, Common Myna, Brown-headed Barbet and Parakeet.

They are part of the 'Dawn Chorus' and when fruits are thrown on the terrace they swoop down with glee and partake of the meal. It is a good start for their foraging activities of the day. No cats are around to spoil the fun.
