Cattle Egrets - Bubulcus ibis, Wariyapola, Sri Lanka.

Cattle Egrets are found aplenty in the paddy fields of this area. They gather round to pick the earthworms when the fields are being ploughes.

Spot-billed Pelican - Pelecanus philippensis, near Wariyapola, Sri Lanka.

The many pools on either side of the highway from Kurunegala to Wariyapola, provides sanctury to Pelicans who fish the waters to their heart's content.

Indian Robin - Saxicoloides fulicata, Murikandy on the A9, Sri Lanka.

The bird life on either side of the A9 highway, from Kandy to Jaffna is really amazing. I took this photo at a lunch-break at the Testa Restaurent at Murikandy.
