Great Egret - Casmerodius albus

Picture taken in the moat between the Batticaloa Fort and the old Rest-House. The water was drying up and the fish in the rapidly drying up water was easy prey for the birds, as seen in the video below.

The Kandy Lake was the home to three Royal South African Pelicans in the 1980s. Now they are gone. This is a picture I took in 1988.
